Resultados del taller de cómic

Hey aquí les tengo unas fotos del Taller de Cómic que impartí en la UABC, el curso se realizo del día 25 al 29 de Octubre. Mis alumnos demostraron por medio de su trabajo que adquirieron el conocimiento básico y lo necesario para poder desarrollar una narrativa secuencial. Gracias a ello obtuvieron buenos resultados al crear su propia narrativa.

Hey I have some photos from the Comic Book Workshop I taught at UABC which took place from October 25 to 29. My students demonstrated through their work how they acquired enough knowledge to develop a sequential narrative, because of this they were able to obtain good results while creating their own narrative.

Conferencia: Introducción al cómic

Los últimos dos días he dado conferencia sobre el cómic a los alumnos de criminología de la universidad Unifront, la introducción al cómic surge como complemento a sus estudios de la materia: Teoría de la personalidad. El enfoque es hacia el desarrollo de la creación tomando la experiencia de vida del autor e ilustrador para generar un universo en el medio del arte secuencial y como este influye en el mundo real y viceversa. Al terminar las conferencias recibí el siguiente reconocimiento.

The last two days I’ve giving a conference about comics to criminology students at Unifront University, this introduction to comic books is a complementary part of their class: Theory of Personality. The focus of this conference is towards the development of creation through the author and illustrators life experience which generates a universe in sequential art that influences the real world and vice versa. The objective was to show the ramifications and consequences of focusing energy and personality traits in to sequential art instead of acting them out. At the end of the conference I received this

Land Art

Esta instalación es una pieza de Land Art en la cual utilizo los principios de recolección y acumulación. La idea detrás de esta pieza surge de las reparaciones que se llevan a cabo en el malecón de Playas de Tijuana, para realizar esta renovación se destrozaron muros de contención llenos de piedras de mar. Debido a esto la playa quedo invadida de piedras que eventualmente volverían a formar parte del muro de contención, esto creó una oportunidad en donde las espacios invadidos fueran utilizados para crear instalaciones pequeñas que le alegren la vista a los visitantes.

This installation is piece of Land Art in which I follow the concepts of recollection and accumulation. The idea behind this work stems from the remodeling of the boardwalk in Playas de Tijuana where in order to remodel they had to tear down walls of stone which left the beach covered in rock. Do to this the beach has invaded by sea stones that eventually would be used to rebuild the walls. This created an opportunity to use the space and leave small installation pieces that would brighten the visitor’s sight.

Analogías

Exhibición colectiva en la que participo con un performance en vivo que critica y cuestiona la experiencia estética y la belleza. El énfasis principal es en la cuestión de géneros y la percepción del físico humano en relación al sobrepeso. Es más frecuente y fácil de aceptar a un hombre con sobrepeso que a una mujer debido a las presiones sociales que se le atribuyen al cuerpo femenino. Este performance es un juego de dominancia y fetichismo en el cual las ataduras de conceptos como la comida, el cuerpo y la satisfacción son explotadas en una forma natural. El performance se realizo con la colaboración de Humberto García.

Titulo: Acción-Reacción

Duración: entre 5 y 10 minutos.

Espacio: Interior de la Cafetería ubicada dentro de La UABC, Campus Tijuana, el día Viernes 27 de Noviembre del 2009 a las 12:30 A.M.

Descripción de la acción: Llegaremos a la cafetería mi compañero y yo, el arreglara algunos detalles de mi apariencia (peinar/maquillar), me alimentara de una menara juguetona y natural. Después comenzara atarme con listón rojo (mientras hace esto será con una mirada de ternura y cariño). Al terminar de amarrarme mi compañero, lo mirare fijamente a los ojos, daré un largo y prolongado suspiro. Entonces comenzare a desatare y me quitare la ropa hasta quedar en ropa interior (durante este proceso mi mirada será agridulce), mientras esto sucede mi compañero no soltara el listón que aun descansa en su mano. Al quedar expuesta volteare, dirigiré la mirada hacia él, observare su rostro le daré un beso en la mejilla, dejare el listón en el piso, mi compañero observara mi partida. Él recogerá mi ropa y el listón, yo seguiré caminando hasta llegar a la sala de artes.

As a part of this collective exhibition my participation was in the form of a performance piece which criticizes and questions both esthetic and beauty. The emphasis was towards questioning the perception of gender and physical appearance when it comes down to an overweight individual. It’s more common and easy to accept an overweight man then a woman because of the social attributions towards the feminine figure. The performance took place the cafeteria of The Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) in the Tijuana campus with the collaboration of Humberto García and it’s a game of dominance and fetishism in which the binding of concepts like, food, the human body and satisfaction are exploited in natural way.

Title: Action-Reaction

Duration: 5 to 10 minutes.

Location: Friday November 27, 2009, 11:30 A.M. at the cafeteria of the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC) Tijuana Campus.

Description of the action: My partner and I will arrive at the cafeteria where he will proceed to start to fixing my hair and put makeup on my face; once this is done he will start feeding me in a natural and playful way. After this he will start binding me with a red ribbon, while he does this his face will have a sweet and caring look. Once he is done binding me I’ll look him straight in the eyes and give a long sigh. Then I will start untying myself and start to take my clothes off until I’m only wearing underwear, while this is happening the expression and look on my face will be bittersweet. As this is continuous my partner will not drop or let go of the ribbon that he holds in his hand, as I stand there in my underwear I will turn around and look at his face I’ll give him a kiss on the cheek and drop the ribbon. My partner will just watch me leave while holding the ribbon in his hands; once I am gone he will pick up my things and leave.
